DAN Training & Education
Provider Award Program
The DAN Provider Award program recognizes individuals trained in DAN Provider courses or who use DAN training and/or equipment to help an injured person.
The injured person need not necessarily be a diver. While DAN courses are geared toward dive emergencies, a DAN Provider could:
- Provide care for a swimmer injured by a jellyfish using skills learned in the DAN First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries course;
- Provide oxygen first aid to a swimmer involved in a near drowning/submersion incident using skills learned in the DAN Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries or Oxygen First Aid for Aquatic Emergencies courses; or,
- A rescuer trained using the DAN BLSPRO course could provide care and perform CPR on a person in cardiac arrest at a bus station.
The incident need not be dramatic, nor have prevented death or permanent disability. The rescue may be considered “unsuccessful” as the injury may have been too great and the injured person may not have survived. However, the fact that a bystander attempted help using skills learned in DAN courses is worthy of commendation.
To nominate someone for a DAN Provider Award submit an Online Nomination Form. Anyone can submit a nomination for a DAN Provider Award. You can even nominate yourself.
When you submit the form, it will be sent directly to DAN Training for review and approval. DAN Training will issue a certificate to the provider recognizing exemplary efforts by a First Aid Provider.
